We are looking for your input. Please consider attending our Special Meeting on May 9th to help us plan ways to continue to bring you the best Fire and Rescue services possible.
The Windsor Severance Fire Rescue Board of Directors will be holding a special meeting on May 9th to discuss the 10-year planning projections as the Board works to evaluate the current needs and assess the ability to serve the future growth needs. This will include the immediate need to build Station 4 and future consideration of building Station 5 within the next 10 years.
The board realizes it must be able to successfully fund these capital projects as well as provide the staffing and apparatus/equipment which likely includes the consideration for a mill rate increase. The board will need to consider the validity of this need and take action as statutorily required. The WSFR board will consider the matter for the ballot for November 2019 election.
The Board of Directors would like to engage with the public early and often and is requesting the public’s presence to hear the plan and its funding needs as the Board and staff looks at all of the options and provides consensus input for a successful future growth needs. This is a dynamic process but based on current provisions and long-term needs. Staff is recommending a discussion of options up to and including a mill rate increase to meet the district’s operational needs. It is projected that the impact to the median homeowner will be less than $25 a year under the current estimations.
The meeting will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday May 9 at WSFR Fire Station 1, 100 7th St., Windsor. The quarterly pension board meeting will follow the special meeting at 7 p.m., and the regular monthly meeting will begin following the pension board meeting. #WSFRTransparency #Transparency #GoodGovernment #PlanningForOurFuture
