The following Loveland Police Officers were involved in the officer involved shooting on 6/8/2017:

Officer Stephen Marchio, 32 years old and an 8-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department.

Officer Sean McDonald, 33 years old and a 2-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department.

Officer Geoff Reeves, 35 years old and a 2-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department.

Officer Matthew Sychla, 30 years old and a 1 ½-year veteran of the Loveland Police Department.

Officer Sychla and Officer McDonald are veteran officers who joined the Loveland Police Department after serving other Law Enforcement agencies in Colorado as full time police officers. All four officers remain on paid administrative leave while the investigation into the incident continues. No other information or photos of the officers will be released.

On 6/8/2017 at approximately 10:11 pm, multiple Loveland Police Officers were involved in a shooting in the 700 block of N. Namaqua Dr. The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team was activated and is currently on scene investigating. N. Namaqua Dr. is closed between E. 1st St. and W. Eisenhower Blvd. The street will remain closed for the next several hours until the on scene investigation is complete. There is no threat to the public related to this incident.

Loveland officers were investigating an attempted traffic stop and subsequent report of a vehicle crash. When they located the suspect vehicle involved, the male suspect fired a weapon. Multiple officers returned fire, striking the suspect, who was later pronounced deceased at the hospital. No other people sustained injuries.

The Eighth Judicial District Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) has been activated and is on scene, and Fort Collins Police Services is leading the CIRT investigation. The FCPS Public Information Office will coordinate with the multi-agency team to make sure appropriate incident-related information is released in a timely manner.

In accordance with CIRT protocol, Loveland Police Department will handle any information release regarding their personnel. Names of the involved Loveland officers will not be released at this time. The identity of the deceased male suspect will be released by the Larimer County Coroner after next of kin have been notified.
