LFRA Haz Mat assisting our neighbors to the west this morning with a fuel spill from a vehicle accident.

At 08:44, Estes Fire was dispatched for a reported semi truck rollover on Highway 7. First arriving units found an 18 wheel dump truck tipped over leaking diesel fuel. Firefighters captured the leaking fuel and requested assistance from Loveland’s hazmat team. Loveland and Estes secured the leak and remained on scene until the vehicle could be righted. The roadway was reopened at approximately 13:35. The delay was waiting for appropriate tow equipment for the large commercial vehicle. Mitigation of the soil will be completed and evaluated over the next 24 hours, ensuring no environmental impact.

Thanks to our partners from Loveland Fire for making the drive up to help. Units on scene included: Estes E1, S3, CO1, CO2. LFRA E1, HZMT1, BC1.
