Last night, firefighters at Station 17 responded to assist one of our neighbors on County Road 66 to round-up cows that had escaped from their fenced area. The firefighters learned two of the cows had fallen
into an irrigation box located near the road. Using low-angle rescue techniques, firefighters were able to rescue both cows. We are happy to report none of the cows were hurt, and all made it back to the fenced area from where they had escaped. Station 17 helped the homeowner cover and put a small fence around the box to prevent other cows or people from falling in.Did you know Wellington Fire Protection District’s (WFPD) response area extends to the Colorado/Wyoming border and totals 288 square miles? Personnel with WFPD provide emergency and non-emergency services to the Town of Wellington and rural communities of Waverly, Buckeye, and unincorporated parts of northern Larimer County.

We are excited to see you continue to grow and develop your skills as leaders in our organization. We’d also like to thank our partners at PFA for including us in this valuable training opportunity.
