January is Cervical Health Awareness Month, and the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment encourages residents to start the new year right by completing preventive health screenings. The
Women’s Wellness Connection offers free cervical cancer screenings to women who don’t have health insurance. For an extra layer of protection, the HPV vaccine prevents cervical cancer among other cancers that affect both men and women. The best immune response is achieved when the HPV vaccine is given to boys and girls ages 11-12 but can be given up to age 45. Talk to your health care provider or make an appointment at the Health Department to discuss cervical cancer screenings or the HPV immunization.
