The county dedicated $2 million from its own economic development fund, which consists of unclaimed property tax incentives, to provide further relief to service industries that continue to be negatively impacted by COVID-19 restrictions.

Service industry businesses affected by state restrictions can apply for relief funds through January 31st at https://weldrecovery.com/guidelines/. Recipients will be notified of awarded funds on a biweekly basis.

Have you recently replaced your “old and busted” smoke alarms with some “new hotness” smoke alarms?

Smoke alarms expire after 10 years and new ones should be installed. If you have replaced your expired alarms they can be disposed of in the following way:
1. If they have a battery, remove the battery for recycling.
2. If they have a sealed compartment, leave it sealed and do not try to take apart the alarm.
3. Dispose of the smoke alarm with your normal trash after removing the batteries.
