#CameronPeakFire – the Larimer County Landfill is accepting fire debris through June 30, 2021. There are special handling instructions for fire debris transport.
Please visit the Landfill homepage at larimer.org/solidwaste to see the Fire Debris Disposal alert banner, at the top of the page. Or call the business office at 970-498-5760 with questions.
For updates on landfill closures and changes to restrictions, you can also text Fire Debris to 56525.

On Jan. 7, wildlife biologist Angelique Curtis conducted an aerial survey of the elk herds across Larimer County to asses the health of the animals following the Cameron Peak Fire, which is the largest wildfire ever to burn in Colorado. The flight also allowed her to obtain population demographic data to effectively and sustainably manage elk herds in Larimer County. Aero Tech, Inc. chief pilot Cameron Stallings also talks about the animal welfare aspects they consider in the air during the short duration of disturbances to the animals, which are warranted by the important biological information that is gathered from the survey.

Don’t forget! Join us tonight for our 4-H Open House. If your friends and neighbors haven’t heard be sure to tell them!

There will be a fun STEM project. Here is a teaser. What will it be? Can you guess?
You will need: a sheet of paper, a pencil or pen, a clear drinking glass or jar, vinegar, baking soda, popcorn kernels or raisins, 2 cups of water.
And if you don’t have those on hand, just follow along and you can do it tomorrow!!
