Last January, Heatherwood Elementary 3rd graders and their teachers, Sara Runyon and Stephanie Tschoepe, in partnership with Growing Up Boulder and the City of Boulder Colorado Government, embarked in aproject-based learning unit entitled Redesigning Gunbarrel. Students studied their community and assessed how it could be improved. They were unable to present these findings to Council due to the pandemic. Generously, Growing Up Boulder put together this brief project report last fall for these now 4th graders! BVSD is thankful for the community collaboration that went into this project! #BVSDProud

Great news! BVSD SPED Para at Centaurus High School, DeJonee Iarussi, is the recipient of a $2500 Resiliency Grant from Western Governors University. DeJonee has been taking classes there to further hereducation and was surprised by Principal Dan Ryan and her colleagues with this fantastic news.
WGU has been working with BVSD on the Work Study Program and other initiatives to support teacher development within the district. They want to help people to continue to pursue their dreams and reach their educational goals. The WGU Resiliency Grant assists students with the unforeseen financial struggles presented by the COVID-19 pandemic. This grant offers new students up to $2,500 that can be used for tuition, fees, and instructional materials to allow them to continue their course of study.
