In the past 70 years, humans have exceeded the energy consumption of the entire preceding 11,700 years—largely through combustion of fossil fuels. This huge increase in energy consumption has then allowed for a dramatic increase in human population, industrial activity, pollution, environmental degradation and climate change.

These actions have pushed the Earth towards a new geological epoch, known as the Anthropocene.

Since 1997, time spent with digital technology has risen 32% among 2- to 5-year-olds and 23% among 6- to 11-year-olds, new research from CU Boulder found. Even before the pandemic, adolescents spent 33 hours per week using digital technology outside of school.

However, this new research also suggests screen-time restrictions have little effect on technology use later in life, and that fears of widespread and long-lasting “tech addiction” may be overblown.

Starting tonight, Food Services will begin a trial evening food distribution from 4-6 p.m. every Monday through at least Dec 14. Pick up will take place at the Culinary Center, 6500 Arapahoe Ave, Boulder. This locations provides a safer, warmer location for our staff. After Dec. 14, we will assess the feasibility of continuing this evening distribution time into the new year.
