In some places where the snow has melted off, you can already find green grass coming back up. Public Information Officer Kale Casey shows us in this video from near Pingree Park. Even in what appears to be severely burned areas, the forest can begin to recover right away. It requires healthy soil and moisture, but nature is resilient.

The Canterbury family in Howard, near Salida, has a hunting tradition dating back for decades and it continues today led by 86-year-old matriarch Gloria Canterbury.
She harvested this buck recently on thefamily ranch where she has hunted her entire life.
Gloria and her late husband, Bill, hunted during their nearly 62 years of marriage. They raised their six children to be sportspeople and now her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have joined the tradition, says @COParksWildlife officer Kim Woodruff.
Besides Gloria, her daughters and sons hunt as well as her grandchildren, Woodruff says. Last year, son Bill helped her get a buck. This year, son Tim assisted her harvest.
The Canterbury family is well known in the Salida area for helping establish the Salida Hunter Education program and for serving as instructors for decades.

Our awesome employees have gone above and beyond again! We held a quick food drive to support Community Food Share and were able to collect roughly 400lbs of food! This picture is just the first half of ourweighed donation!
This time of year is always a struggle for some members of our community, and is particularly difficult this year. If you are able to donate food, funds, and anything else, many of our local non-profits would put your generosity to great use. And maybe hold out for two weeks and give funds on #ColoradoGivesDay this year – Dec. 8 – to help your donation go even further.
