Yesterday, Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputies and local athletes participated in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Colorado. We were assigned a three-mile leg of a 32-mile run, which began in Frederick and ended at Island Grove Regional Park in Greeley.

LETR began in 1981 when Wichita, Kansas Police Chief Richard LaMunyon created the Torch Run. He thought the Torch Run would help law enforcement be active in the community and support Special Olympics Kansas.
