With the recent news that COVID-19 has been confirmed in Colorado, the Platteville Gilcrest Fire staff have been and will continue to monitor local and State health departments along with the CDC guidance. While we are all still learning more about the COVID-19 or Coronavirus, everyone can take steps to limit their exposure. We recommend the following:

• Wash your hands often with soap and water for 30 seconds. Washing your hands should be done after using the restroom, before eating, before and after prepping food, after wiping your nose, coughing or sneezing.

• Stay home when you are sick. Even if you feel a little off and not well, better safe than sorry.

Please be advised that Highway 85 from County Road 28 to Highway 66 (Justin Ave) will be closed for an extended period of time due to a train derailment. PGFPD crews are hard at work triaging and mitigating hazards. Please use alternate routes this morning to avoid this area. At this time it is unknown when the highway will re-open.
