Now that the tryptophan coma is over many people are ready to start decorating for the holidays.

Even if you are your neighborhood's Clark Griswold, please be cautious and follow these simple tips while hanging your lights:
1. Safety First – only UL approved outdoor lights and extension cords should be used.
2. Check your lights to make sure the cords aren't frayed and test them before hanging them.
3. Inspect your ladder to make sure it is in good working order and remember that most ladders can conduct electricity so be careful around electrical sources.
4. Use a buddy system – make sure you have someone helping, especially when using a ladder.
5. Make sure your roof is dry and free of snow and other obstructions.

Once you safely hang all your lights feel free to share a picture in the comments below.
