UPDATE: Attempted murder suspect in the Weld County Jail
Coltin Clark turned himself into the Weld County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday morning

Coltin Clark, the Fort Lupton resident wanted in a connection to an attempted murder investigation, is behind bars in the Weld County Jail.

Clark turned himself in to a Weld County Sheriff’s Office deputy and a Fort Lupton police officer at 5 a.m. Tuesday at the Fort Lupton Police Department. He was transferred to the Weld County Jail and booked at 7:10 a.m.

Clark remains in jail without bond pending his first appearance in court. He was wanted on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder stemming from a shooting over the weekend at a home in a rural Weld County subdivision

Deputies responded to that report of a shooting at 4:35 p.m. Saturday. The shooting took place in front of a residence in the 7100 block of Henry Street in Aristocrat Acres, which is a subdivision located about four miles northeast of Fort Lupton. Upon arrival, deputies found one man who had sustained a minor gunshot wound.

Clark, 28, fled the scene in a truck with his girlfriend. The truck was located and impounded by the sheriff’s office.

Weld County detectives secured a no bond arrest warrant for Clark. In addition to attempted first-degree murder, a Class 2 felony, Clark was booked into the jail on additional charges of second-degree assault, a Class 4 felony, menacing, a Class 5 felony, and possession of a weapon by a previous offender, a Class 5 felony, as well as a misdemeanor charge of violating a mandatory protection order.

Information gathered during the investigation thus far suggests the shooting between Clark and a family member was related to a dispute over money. This remains an active investigation. No additional information can be released at this time.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other crime is asked to call the Weld County Sheriff’s Office at (970) 356-4015 or Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be submitted through the Crime Stoppers website at www.crimeshurt.com. Those submitting tips through Crime Stoppers that lead to the arrest and filing of charges on a suspect(s) may be eligible for a cash reward.
