The Board of Larimer County Commissioners today proclaimed September 2020 as Grandfamily Appreciation Month in Larimer County. Grandfamilies are grandparents or other adults who care for and provide support for children whose parents are unable to do so for a variety of reasons.
There are about 4,000 Grandfamilies in Larimer County, allowing children to thrive in a safe and stable environment.
“I’m glad we’re able to honor September as Grandfamily Appreciation Month. It’s a blessing — we’re privileged to spend time with our 3- year-old granddaughter. It’s a match made in heaven,” said Larimer County Commissioner John Kefalas.

K9 Samson is glad Big Ben's recovery from surgery is going well! At the same time he's looking forward to a Broncos victory!
The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation donated the funds necessary to purchase and train K9 Samson in 2019. In a little over a year since getting certified with the National Police Canine Association, K9 Samson has aided Wildlife Officers in locating evidence in numerous poaching cases ranging from moose to trout and from mountain goat to pronghorn.
He has also helped keep twelve bears from becoming habituated to human food sources through K9 hard releases at the site of conflict.
Thanks Big Ben!
