LCSO Posse Receives Generous Donation

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Posse was recently contacted by the Loveland Nutrien office. They wanted to express their gratitude for all the Posse did to help Larimer County residents during the Cameron Peak Fire. Nutrien made a very generous $10,000 donation to the LCSO Posse.

When asked about the donation, LCSO Posse supervisor Sergeant Troy Badberg said, “This wonderful donation from Nutrien was unexpected. Posse members work very hard for the citizens of Larimer County and do so without expecting anything in return. They provide their own horses, trailers, and equipment. Nutrien’s donation will help the Posse continue their great work and we are thankful for their generosity.”

LCSO Posse members worked over 2,000 hours in 63 days during the fire. They set up holding areas at The Ranch for large and farm animals evacuated because of the fire. Posse members also helped many residents with the evacuation and transport of their animals. They fed and cared for the animals at The Ranch 24/7 with the help of LCSO staff and volunteers from the community. In all, 521 animals were evacuated to The Ranch and included llama, alpaca, horses, mules, donkeys, ponies, goats, chickens, ducks, cattle, sheep, and pigs.

The LCSO Posse is a volunteer organization of deputized and auxiliary members who work countless hours every year to support LCSO and the citizens of Larimer County. More information about the Posse is available here – https://www.larimer.org/sheriff/volunteers/sheriffs-posse.
