Summary:
The Cameron Peak Fire has grown to 10,867 acres. No structures or campgrounds have been damaged. The fire crossed to the south side of Highway 14 in a second location yesterday, becoming established in heavy fuels between Barnes Meadow Reservoir and Long Draw Road.

Today’s weather is expected to have highs in the mid-80s. Winds will become easterly this afternoon, with higher relative humidity of 27%. While the increased humidity is expected to result in less intense fire behavior, winds out of the east will tend to push the fire to the west.

Ground crews will focus primarily on protecting structures and removing nearby fuels, with support as needed from aerial resources. Heavy equipment will be used along Deadman and Pearl Beaver roads, clearing roadside vegetation to create fuel breaks for future containment lines. These indirect tactics are used when fire behavior is too extreme, creating unsafe conditions for firefighters to work directly along the fire line.
Closures

Colorado Highway 14 is closed from Rustic to Gould. There is heavy fire traffic through the Poudre Canyon as crews access the fire area. Larimer County has implemented mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders around the fire area.

The Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forest has implemented an area closure that is affecting recreation and access into the area. The Forest has also elevated fire restrictions to Stage 2. Visit https://www.fs.usda.gov/Inte…/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd781358.pdf to learn more.

An air quality advisory is in effect for Larimer County due to smoke. For more information visit: https://www.larimer.org/…/air-quality-advisory-issued-larim….
