The LFRA reached a milestone in the Fire Station #7 construction project today. Thanks to the work of our team and the creative design work of our own Kristen Cummings, our Wildland Urban Interface Interpretive Garden educational signs are completed and installed. You can see the signs in this post, or visit them in person. Although the interior of the station remains closed because of the pandemic, you are welcome to tour the Interpretive Garden at our station.

Of Particular note, our WUI Interpretive Garden pays tribute to Nancy E. Schuetz. Mrs. Schuetz is part of the extended LFRA Family, Mother to Captain Dave Schuetz. Because this location was once the family's home, and because of her love for gardening, this Wildland Urban Interface Interpretive Garden is named in her honor.

To our knowledge, this garden is a one-of-a-kind educational opportunity for our region. Through this Interpretive Garden, our hope is that the LFRA will continue to grow our relationship with the LFRA community; we will grow greater awareness and education of WUI living, and we will be a living example of how to build a structure in the Wildland Urban Interface.
