Now more than ever, the safety of our students and staff is a top priority in 27J.

We are following all guidelines and safety measures to ensure that our facilities and schools are safe for our returning, in-person learning, students and staff. Our custodial team has been working hard during this time to make sure all buildings meet the highest safety standards.

We are prepared to have multiple protocols in place to provide further protection for our returning students and staff. We call this our “Layers of Protection” because we know there are multiple safety precautions we all must take in order to stay safe and keep our schools open and functioning.

We look forward to the start of this school year and cannot wait to see our student’s faces, whether it is in-person or online!

The ability to persevere in the face of difficulties is a key skill for success in school and in life. 2018 Daniels Scholar and Brighton High School, SD27J graduate, Nathan Hansen, has done just that.

On July 14th, Nathan successfully completed the American Ninja Warrior course in St. Louis, Missouri.

The journey to get to this point wasn’t easy. At age twelve, Nathan was diagnosed with Growth Hormone Deficiency. Nathan struggled in sports due to the danger of size and potential injuries like concussions. In school, Nathan faced bullying due to his size and stature.

The love, support, and inspiration Nathan received from teachers at BHS are what helped him to keep going through thick and thin. Mr. Ted Halbert, Mrs. Alicia Champlin and Mrs. Kathy Gustad were just a few of many teachers who inspired him to persevere and never lose sight of his goals. “No matter what the case was, they told me to push through, dedicate myself, and give it my all,” Nathan recalls.

We are #27JProud of all Nathan has accomplished and are grateful to claim him as an outstanding 27J alumnus. Keep on inspiring!

After careful consideration, the City of Brighton has decided to change the location of Car-nival Palooza on Oct. 24 from Elmwood Cemetery to the Brighton Sports Complex located at 1111 Judicial Center Drive.

Since announcing the drive-thru trunk-or-treat event back in early September, the City received multiple concerns from the public about hosting the event at the cemetery. Although the City also received positive feedback, we want to be respectful to all concerns.
