One group of mosquitoes collected from traps set during the week of July 27, 2020 on the Weld County side of the Town of Berthoud has tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV). This is the first positive test of any mosquitoes trapped within Weld County this year.

Although the risk of WNV is currently low, the hotter days in August create perfect conditions for the Culex mosquito and WNV. Currently there are no human cases of WNV in Weld County or in Colorado.

Join the commissioners on Monday, September 21, at 5:00 p.m. for a telephone town hall/COVID-19 update. All Weld County residents are invited to participate. Some residents will receive an automated call with a message from Commissioner Chair Mike Freeman inviting them to join the event. Vekeo, the vendor providing the telephone town hall service, will initiate calls to some Weld County residents just prior to the event starting on Monday evening. Vekeo accesses phone numbers from Weld County registered voter lists and will randomly select 52,000 phone numbers to call for the event. All county residents, however, are invited to call in and participate. Read more at www.weldgov.com.
