Cheatgrass is a non-native, winter annual grass, list C noxious weed. It germinates any time from August till a hard freeze and in the early spring. The grass is very soft with fine hairs. This gives it its other name of Downy Brome. The grass has a shallow root system making it easy to pull. This grass is usually dead by June or July.
