WELD RE-5J Selects New Superintendent
On May 3, the Weld RE-5J School District Board of Education convened a special meeting and, after much discussion, voted unanimously to name Ms. Leslie Arnold as the sole finalist for permanent superintendent. Congratulations Ms. Arnold!
Ms. Arnold comes to Weld RE-5J from Boulder Valley School District. She has 31 years of experience in education in which time she has served as a teacher, assistant principal, and assistant superintendent. She also spent 12 years as a senior-level executive in the private education sector. Ms. Arnold has served as an assistant superintendent for the past six years.
Throughout this process, Ms. Arnold has demonstrated strengths as a collaborator, listener and consensus-builder. We have tremendous confidence in her ability to set a direction and trajectory for the district with the board, our administrators, and instructional staff that will move Weld RE-5J forward.
It should be noted that the board considered three of the four finalists at its May 3 meeting, as one of the finalists accepted a position in another district prior to the board meeting.
On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to extend our most sincere “Thank you” to educators, administrators, support staff, parents, students, and community members for your investment in our superintendent search process.
The board spent a good deal of time reviewing all interview response forms, personal summaries, and group summaries of each candidate, along with extensive feedback from our community. We are incredibly grateful for the insightful, thorough, and informative comments you provided. Your voices were heard.
The district will now enter into formal contract negotiations with Ms. Arnold. Once we have come to an official agreement, we will share more information with the community including opportunities to welcome and meet our new superintendent.
