On Monday, March 19, 2018, at 2:25 am, Deputies with the Weld County Sheriff’s Office assisted La Salle Police Department with a pursuit. It was reported earlier that a white Cadillac Escalade failed to yield to Greeley Police Department on a traffic violation.
The vehicle traveled at a high rate of speed southbound on Highway 85. The vehicle then made a U-turn approximately three miles past Platteville and traveled northbound on Highway 85. A deputy successfully deployed stop sticks but the vehicle continued northbound reaching speeds of 95mph. The vehicle continued to drive recklessly southbound onto Interstate 25. At this point the suspect was driving on two flat tries. A short time later the suspect vehicle lost control and spun out on I-25.
Deputies conducted a high risk stop and the driver was taken into custody without further incident. Deputies located a loaded hand gun inside the vehicle and a small amount of methamphetamine. Deputies also learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Denver.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Joseph Juan Reyna DOB 08/14/1994 out of Denver. Reyna was transported to the Weld County Jail Complex and booked on Aggravated Motor Vehicle Theft (Felony 4), Possession of a Schedule II Substance (Drug Felony 4), Vehicular Eluding (Felony 5), Possession of Weapon by Previous Offender (Felony 5) and Driving Under Restraint Revoked (Misdemeanor 2).
