Any Weld County resident with a passion to help the aging community is asked to consider being on the Area Agency on Aging board. There are currently two openings.

Funded under the Older Americans Act, the board assists Weld County’s Area Agency on Aging department in many ways. Every year, members meet with county senior providers and provide feedback to the county about those providers and the programs they offer. Additionally, board members learn about the Area Agency on Aging budget process and help determine the department’s annual budget. They also serve the community by reporting on issues impacting seniors while acting as advocates for the many county programs that can help seniors deal with various issues.

Eva Jewell, Division Head for the Weld County Area Agency on Aging, believes that by serving on the board members not only help the community but also come away with greater personal knowledge of the aging process.

“A greater awareness of need and service availability, and a better understanding the aging network,” Jewell said of the benefits gained by serving on the board. “Because, if aging isn’t an issue for you today it will be tomorrow.”
